The broad, majestic Ko’olau mountain ridge seen in a memorable wide shot in the pilot episode (“Pilot,” Ep. 1×01) is viewed from Ka’a’awa Valley, also known as Kualoa Valley. The same view is revisited during the conversation between Jacob and the Man in Black during Season Six (“Ab Aeterno,” Ep. 6×09). The valley contains a number of iconic “LOST” locations. One of the final scenes of “LOST,” in which most of the characters came together in the flash-sideways before “moving on” (Ep. 6×17, “The End”), was filmed inside the St. Margaret Mary Chapel at Sacred Hearts Academy (3253 Waialae Avenue) in Kaimuki. It was the same church where the “Lamp Post” station was hidden (Ep. 5×05, “This Place Is Death,” and Ep. 5×06, “316”). The bustling arrivals and baggage claim area of Los Angeles International Airport was filmed at the Honolulu International Airport, in and around Baggage Claim F (lower level, east end). This includes the small office where Jack and Locke meet, the tunnel and skylight Kate sees as she flees the building, and the pickup area where Kate jumps into Claire’s taxi cab.
