“LOST” locations on Oahu beaches.

Makua Beach

The second to the last stretch of sand before Kaena Point, near the end of Farrington Highway on the westernmost edge of O‘ahu, Makua Beach is among the most remote locations used by “LOST.” It’s where the base of Jacob’s statue was built (“The Incident,” Ep. 5×16, “LA X,” Ep. 6×01). It is also the marina where Charlie caused Desmond to crash his car into the water (“Happily Ever After,” Ep. 6×11). And the same area is also the backdrop for the iconic photo of Desmond and Penny (“Flashes Before Your Eyes,” Ep. 3×08). Note the twin towers of the Hawaii Prince Hotel visible in the background. The shore itself, like all beaches in Hawaii, is open to the public, but the set becomes private property at the vegetation line. There is often signage and temporary fencing marking the nebulous property line. Continue reading Police Beach
