Bamboo Field

The spot where “LOST” began and ended, with Jack lying on his back in a bamboo forest (“The Pilot,” Ep. 1×01, “The End,” Ep. 6×17) is located just off Nuuanu Pali Dr., through the access gate to the Pauoa Ridge hunting area within the Honolulu Watershed Forest Reserve. This is also the bamboo field through which “Mother” led young Jacob and young Man in Black to the “Heart of the Island” (“Across the Sea,” Ep. 6×15).

The property is managed by the Board of Water Supply, and access is limited.

Additional bamboo field footage was shot along the Jackass Ginger trail off Judd Memorial Trail, less than a mile south.

Judd Memorial Trail

Judd Memorial Trail was frequently used as a “LOST” filming location, serving as a jungle and stream setting in nearly every season. It was where Mr. Eko met his demise (“The Cost of Living,” Ep. 3×05) and where young Ben met Richard Alpert for the first time (“The Man Behind the Curtain,” Ep. 3×20). Most recently, it was where Jacob attacked the Man in Black (“Across the Sea,” Ep. 6×15).

Pauahi Tower

The office building where Claire went to visit the adoption agency, and where Desmond introduced her to his lawyer Ilana (“The Last Recruit,” Ep. 6×13), was Pauahi Tower in downtown Honolulu (1001 Bishop St.). The lobby was transformed with a check-in desk and a sign that read “Constellation Tower.” Desmond and Claire took the escalator to the mezzanine level, then took the elevator to the 15th floor. Jack and his son David later arrived for the reading of Christian’s will. The mezzanine level also stood in for Heathrow Airport when Sayid was apprehended (“The Greater Good,” Ep. 1×21).

Kaaawa Valley

The broad, majestic Ko’olau mountain ridge seen in a memorable wide shot in the pilot episode (“Pilot,” Ep. 1×01) is viewed from Ka’a'awa Valley, also known as Kualoa Valley. The same view is revisited during the conversation between Jacob and the Man in Black during Season Six (“Ab Aeterno,” Ep. 6×09). The valley contains a number of iconic “LOST” locations.

Ka’a'awa Valley was also used to film:

Hurley’s golf course (“Solitary,” Ep. 1×09).
The spot where Ana Lucia confronts and kills Goodwin (“The Other 48 Days,” Ep. 2×07).
The hilly field where Hurley, Sawyer and Jin took a joyride in the DHARMA van (“Tricia Tanaka is Dead,” Ep. 3×10).
The area where Richard and his wife lived in the Canary Islands in 1867 (“Ab Aeterno,” Ep. 6×09).

The valley is not open to the public, but is accessible via KOS Tours.

Costco Wholesale Waipio

Pearlridge Center

The hospital parking lot that Kate fled from (“Born To Run,” Ep. 1×22) was the parking structure at Pearlridge Center. The gate she crashed was the entrance nearest Inspiration Interiors (98-1005 Moanalua Road). The canal where she escaped on foot runs past the shopping center, behind Sears and California Pizza Kitchen.

Moli‘i Fishpond

The picturesque waterfront where Jin meets his father and tells him about Sun (“In Translation,” Ep. 1×17), and where Sun meets Jin’s father (“D.O.C.,” Ep. 3×18) is the Moli‘i Fishpond near Kualoa Regional Park. This is also where the Galaga submarine arrived on the island (“One Of Us,” Ep. 3×16). Private property, accessible via guided tours at Tropical Farms.

Byodo-In Temple

The spectacular estate of Sun’s father (“House of the Rising Sun,” Ep. 1×06) is the Byodo-In Temple, part of the Valley of the Temples (47-200 Kahekili Hwy). Sun and Jin’s wedding was later revisited by Jacob (“The Incident,” Ep. 5×16). Admission in the form of a monetary donation is collected at the temple entrance.

Waimea Valley

The waterfall where Sawyer and Kate took a dip and found the gun case (“Whatever the Case May Be,” Ep. 1×12) was part of Waimea Valley, formerly the Waimea Valley Audubon Center (59-864 Kamehameha Highway). Nikki and Paolo later visited the same spot (“Expose,” Ep. 3×14).

Hunakai Street Home
